Jennifer Nychek
Instructor
Jennifer Nychek began her dance journey at the age of 4 and joined the Shelley Shearer School of Dance when she was 12 years old. She completed dance exams in tap, jazz, and ballet, and also trained in musical theatre and hip hop. Throughout her years of dance, Jennifer participated in the Canadian National Dance Championships and the Manitoba Dance Festival, as well as many dance conventions and workshops. Jennifer began assisting jazz, tap, and hip hop at Shelley Shearer in her mid-teens, and taught levels 1-4 jazz and a wide range of tap classes. Her passion for the expression of dance through rhythm and musicality is what drew her to focus on teaching tap. Jennifer has been co-teaching competitive tap classes and choreographing solos for over 15 years. Her soloists and groups have won various awards and she is continuously impressed by her students’ work ethic and love of dance. Outside of the dance studio, Jennifer works at the Health Sciences Centre Rehabilitation Hospital as an Occupational Therapist. Due to her love of dance and her many wonderful and memorable years at Shelley Shearer, she has been unable to fully retire from the dance world just yet. Jennifer continues to find inspiration in the dancers that she works with and the teachers that she has learned from along the way. She looks forward to another great year of dance!
