Elizabeth George
Instructor
Liza has been teaching ballet for 25 years and has been on staff at the Shelley Shearer School of Dance since 1999 with a primary focus on ballet and preschool. As a full time professional teacher, Liza is also responsible for the school’s summer assistant training program and works as an administrative assistant in the office during registration. As with many little girls, the dancing bug bit at an early age and she has loved movement and performance ever since. As a young adult Liza focused on combining her love of dance and her love of children, by pursuing a Student Teaching Certificate and later her Teaching Certification with the Royal Academy of Dancing (RAD) Canada. Liza has attended numerous teachers’ courses including those with the National Ballet of Canada.
While many of Liza’s students have won awards at provincial, national and international festivals and championships, every student makes her proud. Her students adore her encouraging and nurturing approach to teaching. Every student feels important in Liza’s class and knows that she would do anything to help them reach their goals. Her patience and thoughtfulness inspires everyone to be the best they can be. She loves to see a student acquire the strength, grace and poise that dance provides but especially values the confidence and positive self image that dancing instills in an individual.
