Roxanne Tackie
Instructor
Roxanne has been involved in dance since her first class at the age of 3. She has trained extensively in ballet, jazz, tap, musical theatre, modern and hip hop and completed dance exams in ballet, jazz and tap. As she progressed in her training, Roxanne continued on as a competitive dancer where she had the opportunity to participate in competitions, workshops and clinics that took her across North America including Minneapolis, New York and Vancouver. Her solos and groups as a dancer won her many accomplishments including “Best Rhythm Tapper.”
Roxanne found a passion for teaching when she started working with recreational students in 2005. Since then, she has gone on to instruct hip hop, jazz, lyrical, and her first love, tap dance. As a teacher and choreographer, Roxanne’s dances have won numerous awards and scholarships including winning a choreography award at the Canadian National Dance Championships. She continues to share her love of dance through teaching, and particularly enjoys the discipline and camaraderie her students develop through her class. Roxanne believes that to stay relevant as a teacher, it is important to remain a student. Her passion for tap dance has grown as she continues to actively participate in classes, workshops and jam sessions, studying with renowned tap dancers such as Jason Samuels Smith, Chloe Arnold, and Allison Toffan. Roxanne runs an energetic and encouraging class where she hopes to inspire every student to be their best, and develop their musicality and expressiveness through their dance training.
